In the mid 1990's Tom Pritchett, Champion's President & CEO, was a minority owner in a successful hazardous waste transportation firm based in Salt Lake City, Utah. On several occassions Tom's company was contracted to provide transportation services for a petroleum specialties firm also based in Salt Lake City.
At that time, the petroleum firm's general manager was Trent Garnand, Champion's COO. While seated on the tailgate of a pick up truck after another completed project, Tom and Trent began discussing the merits of combining the two services they provided. Both had decades of experience ranging from Super Fund cleanups, to the North Slope of Alaska, to the Gulf Coast of California. Both were considered the finest in their fields and each had a base of loyal customers and employees.
It didn't take long for Tom and Trent to realize they were on to something. Tom suggested they contact one of his long time friends, Radd Berrett. Radd had spent years in the mergers, acquisitions, and finance arena specializing in startup and micro cap companies. Radd immediately saw the potential in the new venture and committed to the effort. Within days, Champion Industrial Services, LLC was born.
With the foundation built, and confidant in the customers who would embrace the new combination, Champion began to build the most crucial element of its company. The employees. From its first day of operations Champion had a leg up on the competition. The three new partners were joined by some of the finest drivers, operators, administrators, and technicians in the business. People like Keith Benton, Lori Nance, and Chet Keen all "took the leap", and believed in the vision. Without these valued team members, Champion would never have been the success it is today.
The Champion mission statement is unique. It's based upon its people, and the belief that as a service company we're only as good as who we put into your facility. Our people are the best. We trust you'll agree.
